We are thrilled to announce that ElectraNet, along with the Barngarla Determination Aboriginal Corporation, are joint recipients of the SA Premier’s Award – Community Category, recognising our collaboration on Eyre Peninsula Link, the new 270km high voltage transmission line from Cultana to Port Lincoln.

Now in its 12th year, the Premier’s Awards in Energy and Mining showcase innovative approaches and technology, applaud leading practice, and acknowledge the delivery of exceptional leadership in South Australia, along with recognising the employment and business opportunities and the positive economic, social and environmental contribution the industry makes to South Australia.

This Community category award recognises ElectraNet and Barngarla’s Eyre Peninsula Link Cultural Heritage Monitoring Program and demonstrated excellence of our project team working with the Barngarla people.

Over two and a half years of construction, ElectraNet engaged 86 Barngarla people to create one of the largest cultural heritage monitoring programs in Australia. This ensured their country and culture were protected while works on the new transmission line progressed through to completion.

We are proud to celebrate and continue this relationship with the Barngarla people, especially as we make progress towards our own Reconciliation Action Plan, which aims to strengthen our understanding of aboriginal cultures right across our state.

EP Link Project Manager, Jon Mussared said, “The impact of this project goes beyond electricity transmission – symbolising the convergence of community, culture, and sustainable infrastructure development.”

“The innovation lies in collaboration, maximising outcomes by embracing and encouraging partnerships, heritage preservation, the importance of community and effective use of technology in delivering a project that will power the Eyre Peninsula into the future,” Jon said.
