ElectraNet has officially begun construction on the connection for ZEN Energy’s Templers 111MW / 290MWh BESS.

Consolidated Power Projects have begun clearing the land adjacent to the Templers West substation. Construction for the connection is due to be completed by November 2024.

Manager Customer Connections, Niketan Tyagi, said, “After executing the Transmission Connection Agreement (TCA) with us last year, it’s fantastic to see construction moving ahead for this important project for ZEN.”

“We’ll be supporting them throughout construction and eventual connection to the National Electricity Market (NEM).”

ZEN Energy’s Technical Manager, Dan Manderson said at the time of TCA execution, “The Templers Battery Project will be ZEN’s first utility-scale project to connect to the NEM.”

“Increasing battery storage capacity in the grid is a key component of ZEN’s mission to lead communities into the zero-carbon world. The Templers Battery Project will store enough energy to power 96,000 homes for over 2.5 hours and enables further deployment of renewable energy in South Australia,” Dan said.

We look forward to updating our customers and stakeholders on progress.
