ElectraNet is proud to be a Project Partner of the South Australian Government’s Hydrogen Jobs Plan.

The Hydrogen Jobs Plan includes the construction of a 250Mwe electrolyser, a 200MW hydrogen fuelled power plant and storage system in Whyalla. These electrolysers will be one of the largest in the world, with an aim to provide additional grid stability and energy export opportunities, utilising excess renewable energy.

Connection of this innovative infrastructure to the high voltage network will be essential to its success. We have been engaged by the Office of Hydrogen Power South Australia to build, own, operate and maintain the high voltage assets required to connect the HJP facility to the National Electricity Market (NEM).

We are excited to be playing a key role in this important project, which represents another step towards South Australia’s clean energy future. Our successful completion of the recent Eyre Peninsula Link project and engagement with the local community demonstrates our capability to deliver these assets which include:

  • 2 greenfield 275kV substations;
  • Approximately 9km of 275kV transmission line; and,
  • Associated telecommunication and protection infrastructure.

Senior Project Manager Contracted Portfolio, Jon Mussared, spoke at the Northern Water and Hydrogen Jobs Plan Industry Briefing in Whyalla on Friday 29 February.

Jon said, “We’re excited to be working with the South Australian Government and suppliers to make this project happen, especially local communities in the Upper Spencer Gulf region.”
