Transmisson tower from sky view

5:30 PM

The severe storm front affecting South Australia has damaged parts of the transmission network and resulted in a state-wide black out at approximately 3:45 pm.

ElectraNet is currently working with the Australian Energy Market Operator to implement black start procedures and restore power supply, as soon as possible.

We understand the impact of this event and are working hard to resolve it.

At this point in time we don’t know how long it will take to restore power, but people should prepare for it to take  at least several hours. SA Power Networks will then progressively restore supply to their customers as it is safe to do so.

Given the severe weather events and potential damage to electricity infrastructure, members of the public should be alert to the potential for powerlines and associated equipment to be damaged, and if they see anything, should remain well clear and promptly report the situation to ElectraNet on 08 8404 7966.

Further updates will be provided as soon as more information is to hand.
