ElectraNet owns and operates more than 5,600 kilometres of transmission line that operate at voltages of 275 kV, 132 kV and 66 kV, as well as 91 high-voltage substations with modern centralised monitoring, control and switching facilities.

Our one-stop-shop service means that clients can entrust us with the end-to-end delivery and management of electricity infrastructure assets.

We own and operate $2.5 billion worth of transmission assets and have a strong investment-grade credit rating – Moody’s Baa1 and Standard & Poor’s BBB+ equivalent.

This enables us to finance electrical infrastructure projects in the generation, mining, oil and gas and industrial sectors at highly competitive rates of return.

Landholder liaison and stakeholder engagement

Electricity transmission assets have a long life span, so ElectraNet consults with stakeholders in the community to ensure we take concerns and feedback about projects into consideration when planning for one. The investment made in community engagement at the start of a project is crucial to maintaining positive and productive relationships over the asset’s long life cycle.

Engineering

We have developed an extensive management system that is scalable, tried and tested across our high-voltage and telecommunications network. This system integrates user and functional requirement definition, engineering authority, detail requirements management, verification, testing acceptance, and validation for engineering service delivery. We also use a strong base structure to standardise design and provide consistency in delivery outcomes.

Design and construction

ElectraNet specialises in high-voltage substations, underground cable systems, and overhead lines.

We have the experience and skills needed for detailed engineering and design, cost estimation, procurement, construction, installation, testing and commissioning, operation, and maintenance.

Industry knowledge

ElectraNet has very strong working relationships with the Australian Energy Regulator (AER), the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and other key stakeholders. Our unique experience allows us to assist our clients with regulatory and commercial negotiations, and successfully connect them to the network.
