Repairs to transmission lines in the state’s Mid North are continuing. Multiple crews are working in the field to erect temporary towers and restring transmission lines, however winds in the area have delayed progress.
ElectraNet expects to complete the majority of work to get one of the damaged circuits back up by the end of the weekend but some of this work may flow into the early part of next week.
“Following unfavourable conditions earlier in the week, crews have been working longer days to make up the lost time,” ElectraNet Executive Manager Network Services, Simon Emms, said.
“While weather conditions have improved, winds at the site has hampered efforts, particularly for crews working at elevated heights.
“The safety of the public, our staff and contractors must remain our priority.
“Work is progressing steadily and while we are continuing with our best efforts to aim for Sunday, we expect a completion date of Monday may be more realistic, provided weather conditions remain stable. Another circuit will follow a few days later.
“Additional restoration work is being carried out near Blyth, which will help to strengthen the transmission network.”
