Northern South Australia Region Voltage Control
ElectraNet has announced the cancellation of the RIT-T as the continuation of the process is no longer required.
A Project Specification Consultation Report has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the National Electricity Rules and represents the first stage of the consultation process in relation to the application of the RIT-T to improve voltage control in the northern South Australia region.
The PSCR details the:
- reasons for undertaking the RIT-T
- network options being considered
- technical requirements for non-network options.
Feedback on the PSCR closed on 4 November 2016.
During this time, ElectraNet has been engaging with customers to better understand the dynamic behaviour of customer demands at Olympic Dam, Roxby Downs, and Prominent Hill. The dynamic behaviour of this demand is critical to the identified need being assessed via the RIT-T.
ElectraNet received new information from customers in late December 2016 as part of this engagement, and has now completed a re-evaluation of the identified need based on this new information.
Our findings show that voltage control in the northern South Australia region meets the requirements of the National Electricity Rules, based on the dynamic characteristics and forecast of customer demand. This means that the identified need for the RIT-T no longer exists.
For this reason, ElectraNet has announced the cancellation of the RIT-T as the continuation of the process is no longer required.
