ElectraNet has restored the majority of South Australia’s transmission network following yesterday’s severe weather event that caused a state-wide blackout.

Power was restored to Port Pirie and Port Augusta around lunchtime today and we are working to restore power across the state where it is safely possible.

ElectraNet is continuing to patrol and monitor the transmission network and is working to fix damaged infrastructure.

Three of the four transmission powerlines between Adelaide and the north of South Australia and 22 towers across the network were damaged in yesterday’s storms.

ElectraNet is still waiting for full reports from today’s adverse weather conditions to come through.

SA Police and State Emergency Services are working hard in the field to ensure public safety. Anyone who sees damaged powerlines or fallen infrastructure should stay well clear and report them to ElectraNet on 08 8404 7966.

Severe weather conditions have been forecast for the rest of the day.

Further updates will be provided as they become available.
