Graduate Program

ElectraNet offers a limited number of electrical engineer graduate positions each year to help us ensure some of the best minds are part of the team which delivers South Australians with a safe, secure and reliable power supply.

Program Eligibility

Graduates are encouraged to apply for the ElectraNet Electrical Engineering Graduate program if they are in the final year of their degree, have completed their university studies within three years at the time of their application or can provide evidence of completion before the start of the program.

Graduate Experience

ElectraNet provides its graduates with a supportive, engaging and hands on learning experience to ensure they can continue to develop their skills and career in the electricity industry.

When a graduate joins ElectraNet their career begins with welcome from the relevant Group Executive followed by a formal induction program guided by the graduate’s leader.

Here they will gain exposure to our business and industry, and build their learning and development plan. They will also find out what it means to be an employee at ElectraNet and how the team live our values and behaviors. There is also the opportunity to meet previous graduates.

Graduates have ongoing opportunities to meet and develop relationships with several key support persons including:

Their Manager – supports and guides the graduate’s probation, approves leave and provides advice and support on any issues or concerns.

Team Leaders – supports rotations and helps integrate the graduate into the broader team.

Principal & Senior Engineers – provides coaching, mentoring support and industry knowledge.

Graduate Cohort – Peers to join the graduate on their early career with ElectraNet and an opportunity to collaborative as you undertake the program together. Former Graduates are also available to answer questions and give tips on settling into ElectraNet.

Learning & Development

Experiential

Rotation – Offers practical industry experience to support the graduate’s engineering career. ElectraNet builds a strong foundation through robust business exposure via rotation placements in three areas of the business.

Projects – Consolidate and apply learnings through individual and group projects throughout the year, which are key to the graduate’s Learning and Development plan.

Work shadowing – Tap into a day in the life of some of ElectraNet’s Engineers.

Social

Mentoring – Gain access to highly experienced Engineers & Leaders who provide guidance and act as mentors through the graduate’s development and work rotations.

Community of Practice – A knowledge sharing cohort is a great opportunity for learning and sharing with likeminded individuals.

Group Site Visits – Seeing theory in practice can really bring the role as an Electrical Engineer to life. Get out of the office to see ElectraNet assets firsthand to better understand the business.

Formal

Engineers Australia Graduate Program – Developed to give graduates a professional head start, strengthening core business skills and values. Graduates acquire professional writing skills, learn management processes and prepare them for their journey to Chartered Status.
