Electrical equipment operates at very high voltages. Coming close to or connecting with this equipment can be very dangerous – even deadly. Therefore, it is important that when near powerlines or other network equipment, you take appropriate safety precautions.

Emergency Instructions

If a vehicle you are operating contacts a powerline, remian in the vehicle, until the power is switched off.

Emergency Services (000) should be advised of the incident as soon as possible.

If you are in direct contact with the powerline, a fire starts or you have no alternative (no-one knows you are there), then it would be necessary to leave your vehicle. In this scenario, or if you are assisting someone else, please take the following precautions:

  • DO NOT climb on top of the vehicle
  • DO NOT touch the vehicle and ground at the same time
  • DO jump and land on both feet, walk from the vehicle with small steps and DO NOT return.
