Electric and Magnetic Fields

Electric and magnetic fields (EMFs) are invisible fields produced by the generation, transmission, distribution and use of electrical power.

They are associated with wiring in homes and offices, electric clocks, computers, hair-dryers, electric blankets and other electrical devices – as well as all powerlines.

In the management of this issue, ElectraNet is guided by the findings of independent authoritative scientific and medical reviews, which evaluates research. Many reviews have been published world-wide, but none have concluded that electric and magnetic fields cause nor contribute to, adverse health effects.

ElectraNet continues to monitor all aspects of research into the EMF debate.

In our planning and development of our state’s high-voltage transmission network, ElectraNet continues to adopt best-industry practice by acting prudently in the planning and siting of new electrical assets within communities across South Australia.
