Transmission Planning

With continuing growth in power demand forecast, the timely and
cost-effective establishment of new electricity transmission assets across South Australia is essential, so that all electricity consumers have access to reliable electricity supplies into the future.

Adelaide is continually expanding and improved lifestyle choices have introduced more home-appliances which have increased residential demand. The Far North of South Australia is in the midst of a resources exploration boom. Significant industrial growth is occurring in the Mid North and South East of our state. And additional renewable energy generation is being accelerated by the federal government’s large-scale renewable energy target policy.

In considering this complex mix of electricity transmission requirements, within a carbon-constrained future, ElectraNet consults with a wide range of stakeholders including government organisations, state regional development boards, the resources sector and market participants. And in particular we work extensively with the national electricity transmission planner – the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) – to meet state and also national objectives.

We have accepted the challenge to achieve innovative solutions and we lead by example.
