Role and Function

ElectraNet is the principal Transmission Network Service Provider (TNSP) and System Control Centre Operator in South Australia, and we operate in the National Electricity Market.

We are an asset management, project management and contract management business and competitively source our construction and asset maintenance requirements, ensuring best-practice outcomes for the market, business and our customers.

Our customers include power generators, the state's electricity distributor ETSA Utilities and large industry.

ElectraNet’s electricity transmission network:

  • Is the 275,000 Volt (275kV) backbone of the electricity supply system in South Australia
  • Provides super-highways of high-voltage electricity, transporting power from South Australian generation sources to metropolitan and regional areas of demand (load centres)
  • Delivers reliability and security of electricity supply in an economic, safe, socially and environmentally-responsible manner
  • Supports the economic development of the South Australian economy
  • Delivers clean renewable energy to the National Electricity Market
  • Supports quality of life for all South Australians.

We actively support and facilitate a wide range of traditional and renewable generation investment in South Australia and the growth of interconnector capability for national export potential.
