Time-Out with Ajit

Ajit Dhaliwal, Principal Project Manager

Ajit Dhaliwal commenced work with ElectraNet in 2005 as a Project Manager and just three years later was appointed to the position of Principal Project Manager.

Previous roles held by Ajit include working with the Adelaide Clipsal 500 as their Power and Communications Manager, and also within South Australia’s water industry as a Project Management Consultant.

In recent years, Ajit’s Principal Project Manager role has evolved through a company restructure – and he now enjoys a greater focus on strategy as well as ensuring technical expertise in project management.

Ajit holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and a Graduate Diploma in Project Management. And with an interest in general business management and corporate strategy, Ajit is planning to finalise his Master of Business Administration in 2011/12, supported by ElectraNet.

'At ElectraNet, we have a dedicated team of highly-skilled project management professionals delivering a large portfolio of complex infrastructure projects.'

'It is extremely fulfilling to work as a Principal, actively mentoring and coaching in project management – being able to advise, guide and support my colleagues to overcome project management issues.'

'We have a good, supportive internal culture. The opportunities to network with other professional staff across the organisation are excellent. This enables additional personal insight and growth.'

'Here in South Australia, the demand for power is continuing to grow – and rapidly – fuelled by Adelaide’s continual expansion, particularly in the outer-metropolitan and industrial regions such as the South East, Mid North and Far North of the state.'

'An example of this growth’s impact on ElectraNet’s construction delivery program is that I have been asked to bring forward one of my projects by one year – a great challenge to deliver in the next eight months. This is the 132kV Ardrossan West Substation Rebuild, and transformer capacity increase – a $25 million power reinforcement for the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia’s Mid North.'
