Working in the Community

Together, ElectraNet and South Australian communities have a pivotal role to play in our state’s energy future.

Right across our society, consumers are demanding more electricity – in homes there are more improved lifestyle appliances, particularly airconditioners. And commercial, mining and manufacturing demands are also on the rise. As well, we are experiencing accelerated development of renewable energy generation, driven by the federal government’s renewable energy targets (RETs) policy.

So, with growth in future power demand a certainty, the timely establishment of new regulated electricity transmission infrastructure is essential.

With over 150 engineers at ElectraNet currently working to reinforce and expand the transmission network in South Australia, we are delivering major high-voltage development works currently in excess of $150 million a year to the community. And for every one of those current and planned transmission developments, ElectraNet aims to identify and understand stakeholder and community priorities. This is achieved through rigorous communication and engagement processes to plan for and deliver mutually acceptable solutions… with due consideration to the social, environmental and economic impacts.

South Australia’s high-voltage electricity transmission network is a strategic and highly-regulated asset underpinning the state’s economic development and the prosperity of the South Australian community.

We value the important role of our neighbouring landowners and occupiers – as we work together – to maintain and strengthen our state’s power assets for a sustainable future.
