ElectraNet takes fire prevention and management very seriously and understands the expectations of regional communities.
In turn we appreciate services such as the local Country Fire Service (CFS) units, run by local community members – and we offer support to the Country Fire Service Foundation.
In preparation for the bushfire and summer season, ElectraNet undertakes a cyclical vegetation clearance program on all our transmission lines throughout South Australia, to minimise the risk of vegetation coming into contact with our state's high-voltage transmission network.
Vegetation clearance is required to remove any vegetation within clearance distances to reduce the possibility of supply interruptions and ensure the maximum protection and safety of South Australian communities.
ElectraNet employs contractors to undertake our cyclic vegetation clearance asset maintenance program. Reasonable notice is provided by contractors prior to visiting a site for either inspection or vegetation clearances.
Community cooperation is valued by ElectraNet in undertaking this critical maintenance task – which is needed to protect the safety of the community and the reliable supply of electricity.
The Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure also provides vegetation clearance information and information on trees and powerlines.
