As part of our routine maintenance program, ElectraNet undertakes regular inspections of our state's overhead transmission lines by helicopter.
Undertaking these precautionary inspections assists us in maintaining the electricity transmission network to reduce the possibility of supply interruptions and ensure the maximum protection and safety of South Australian communities.
Flights are scheduled between the hours of 7.00am and 5.00pm during July to December each year, along all major transmission lines across the state, including:
Whyalla, Cowell, Kimba, Cleve, Wudinna, Lock, Port Lincoln and
surrounding areas.
Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Quorn, Pimba, Leigh Creek, Hawker and
surrounding areas.
Kadina, Maitland, Ardrossan, Yorketown and surrounding areas.
Clare, Brinkworth, Mintaro, Waterloo, Robertstown, Snowtown,
Balaklava, Templers, Dorrien, Roseworthy, Gawler and
surrounding areas.
LeFevre Peninsula, Salisbury, Parafield Gardens, Magill, Belair,
Blackwood, Flagstaff Hill, Happy Valley, Morphett Vale and
surrounding areas.
Hillbank, One Tree Hill, Birdwood, Gumeracha, Magill,
Mount Barker, Cherry Gardens, Happy Valley, Belair, Blackwood,
Flagstaff Hill, Tungkillo, Murray Bridge, Tailem Bend, Mannum
and surrounding areas.
Bordertown, Keith, Naracoorte, Lucindale, Penola,
Mount Gambier, Millicent and surrounding areas.

Notifications of any upcoming helicopter patrols are advertised in both metropolitan and regional newspapers.
