Engineering for the future
Every South Australian has a responsibility to protect significant natural and cultural places for future generations. As the owner and manager of South Australia's electricity transmission network, ElectraNet contributes to the preservation of identified sites of cultural and natural heritage that may be encountered during the development of our electrical infrastructure assets.
ElectraNet operates in an environment with ever-increasing demand for electricity. This is fuelled by Adelaide's continual expansion, particularly in the outer-metropolitan and industrial regions, such as the South East and Mid North of the state, as well as in the Far North of the state where the resources boom is beginning to occur.
South Australia is also known for having one of the 'peakiest' demands in the world; that is, peak demand happens for short but sustained periods throughout the year, particularly in summer, creating extremely high demand on the network in short bursts. Therefore, our network must be able to provide a reliable supply during these extreme demand periods. We ensure the needs of our direct-connect customers, the South Australian community and participants in the National Electricity Market are met.
We empower our people to find innovative solutions.
