About Us

Electricity. Some people make it, sell it or regulate it. At ElectraNet, we move it. Some 3000mw of power a day, making us the largest transmitter of electricity in South Australia.

ElectraNet owns and manages the South Australian transmission system in the National Electricity Market (NEM). Our continual aim is to plan smarter, manage smarter, and work smarter. We foster a work environment empowering our people to find innovative solutions. ElectraNet has a diverse range of career opportunities, with the majority being from the engineering, procurement, analyst, project management and administration fields. Please check the expertise area of this website for more information or alternatively, visit our current career opportunities available.

Best practice management systems for environmental, technical and social planning have played an integral part to our infrastructure development for South Australia, delivering major capital projects worth over 400 million in recent years to the community. South Australia will benefit from a $780 million upgrade to its transmission network over five years. The revenue proposal for the period 2008-09 to 2012-13 foreshadowed the increase in spending on the transmission network from July 2008 to meet growing demand for electricity and to replace ageing assets.

ElectraNet uses a wide range of strategies to attract and retain critical skills. To inject support into local and national industry, ElectraNet uses the following strategies:

  1. Involving ourselves with university undergraduate programs
  2. Developing a well respected graduate program which includes post graduate study and practical work experience over a 2 year program
  3. Supporting industry bodies such as the Australian Power Institute and the Australian Power Academy
